There are 100 centimeters in 1 meter, so 54 centimeters subtracted from 100 centimeters (1 meter) is

    100-54=46

so 46 centimeters remain, or 46/100 of the board which is really 23/50 of the board.

    So basically, your possible answers:

    46 centimeters

    0.46 meters

    46% of the original board

    23/50 of the original board
