5c+4 = - 26
subtract 4 on both sides
so 5c+4-4 = - 26-4
4-4 cancel each other out and - 26-4=30
5c=-30
now its mutiplication so you divide
5:5 cancel each other out
and - 30:5 = - 6
so
C=-6
