17 (a) - 17 (15) = 153
then solve what you can
17 (a) - 255 = 153
then add to cancel out the subtraction
17 (a) - 225 = 153
+225 + 225
17 (a) = 378
then divide
17 (a) = 378
/17 / 17
a = 22.2352941
a = 22.2
