Calculate area by multiplying the length by the width:

    Area of kitchen: 20 x 13 = 260 square feet.

    Area of stove: 3 x 4 = 12 square feet.

    Area of refrigerator: 4 x 5 = 20 square feet.

Now subtract the area of the stove and refrigerator from total area of the kitchen:

    Area uncovered: 260 - 12 - 20 = 228 square feet.
