Well she wants to make a dozen towels. a dozen is 12 so she wants 12 towels. each towel is 3/4 yards. so we can add 3/4 12 times like

    3/4 + 3/4 + 3/4 and so on. or we can do

    12 * 3/4

we can rewrite 12 as 12/1. like this

    12/1 * 3/4

to multiply fractions we multiply the tops and get

    12 * 3 = 36

    and then bottoms

    1 * 4 = 4

    we put top over bottom

    36/4

    simplify

    9/1 = 9 yards
