By definition of an integer, it is all the whole numbers that are positive, negative, and zero. This means that fractions and decimals are not included.

-3 and 0 are included in the definition of an integer.

    1.2 x 10^-2 = 0.012 = 12/1000

Since 1.2x10^-2 is a fraction or decimal, then it cannot be an integer.
