    Darrel will have to pay the deductible cost of $1000 and the 20% of the total cost of the elbow surgery

    Darrel's surgery = Deductible + 20% of surgery cost

    where

    Deductible = $1000

    20% of surgery = $9000 x. 2

    = $1800

    Darrel's elbow surgery = $1000+$1800

    = $2800

    Darrel will have to pay a total of $2800 for his elbow surgery.
