    5 (2x+8) - 5x=5 (5x+6)

    Distribute

    10x+40-5x=25x+30

    combine like terms

    5x+40=25x+30

    -5x - 5x

    subtract 5x from both sides

    40=20x+30

    -30 - 30

    subtract 30 from both sides

    10=20x

    :20 : 20

    divide both sides by 20

    1/2=x is your final answer
