Find the product of (x - a) and (x - b).

    (x-a) (x-b)

    = (x+-a) (x+-b)

    = (x) (x) + (x) (-b) + (-a) (x) + (-a) (-b)

    =x2-bx-ax+ab

    =ab-ax-bx+x2
