    Y-18=14

    Well, to start off, what is y?

    Move 18 to the other side

    y-18=14

    +18+18

    thus,

    y=32

    Then just plug n chug, into the second equation

    3 (32+5)

    distribute the 3

    3*32=96

    3*5=15

    then add what you have multiplied out

    96+15=111

    Thus, the value of 3 (y+5) = 111.
