    SAcylinder=sides+top and bottom

    top=circumference times height

    top and bottom=2 itmes circle

    d=18

    d/2=18/2=9=r

    top and bottom=2pir^2=2pi9^2=2pi81=162pi

    sides

    c=2pir=18pi

    height=12

    sidearea=18*12*pi=216pi

    add

    162pi+216pi=378pi ft^2

    Surface area of a cylinder = 2πr^2 + 2πrh = 2π x (18/2) ^2 + 2π x (18/2) x 12 = 162π + 216π = 378π ft^2
