When you're getting ready to find the percent of a number,

you'll know even before you start that ...

    - - If the percent is less than 100%, the result will be

    less than the number.

    - - If the percent is more than 100%, the result will be

    more than the number.

Why do you think this is?

    - - ' 100% ' means ' 1 '.

    - - If you take less than 100% of the number, that means

    less than the whole thing.

    - - If you take more than 100% of the number, that means

    more than the whole thing.

If the percentage is less than 100%, it is less than number. If percentage is more than 100%, it is more than number. If the percentage is equal to 100%, then it is equal.
