    Answer: - 3x - 6 = - 9

    Step 1. Add 6 to both sides

    -3x - 6 + 6 = - 9 + 6

    -3x = - 3

    then dividing by negative three to both sides

    -3x/-3 = - 3/-3

    x = 1
