    Lets make the equation in y = form

    3x+4y=12

    subtract 3x from both sides

    4y=-3x+12

    divide both sides by 4

    y=-3/4x+3

    this lines slope is - 3/4

    a perpendicular line has a slope that is opposite the sign (+/-) and is flipped

    the perpendicular lines slope will be 4/3
