Alisha must wear a skirt and blouse to work every day. She can buy an all-cotton blouse for $35, but it needs to be sent to the dry cleaner to be washed and ironed for $5 after each use. She can buy a wash and wear blouse of the same quality for $49, which she can stick in her washing machine and hang up to dry. If we ignore the cost of using her washing machine (which is offset by the cost of driving to the dry cleaner), after how many cleanings will she break even on buying the more expensive blouse?

A. 10

    Answer: B. 3

Reasoning: The "cheap" blouse is $35+5 after each use. While the "expensive" blouse is $49 all together.

So to make these break even we will add $5 to $35 till it at least $39

    1: 35+6=40

    2:40+5=45

    3:45+5=50

So 50 is the closest we can get to 49 and also the closest to even we can get for this! So the answer is 3 times!
