A mixed number is (a whole number) plus (a fraction).
The whole number is no problem. It's ' 2 '.
But how to get a fraction from. 98?
The easiest way I know to explain it is: Read it out loud, and
write down what you hear yourself saying.
When you read '.98 ' out loud, you should say
"ninety-eight hundredths".
Write that down: 98/100. There's your fraction.
It looks a little bit neater if you simplify it ... divide
the top and bottom by 2, and then you have 49/50.
So 2.98 is the same as the mixed number (2 and 49/50).
