What is the formula for the general term of the arithmetic sequence 1, 5, 9, 13, ...?

    a (n) = a (n-1) + 4.

    But to completely describe the sequence you've given,

    these specifications also need to be stated:

    a (1) = 1

    and

    n > 1.
