    Let's assume width of a rectangle = a inches

    than length of the rectangle = 2*a + 2

    = 2a + 2 inches

    perimeter of the rectangle. = 70 inches

    perimeter (P) = 2 (length + width)

    after substituting value of l and w we have

    p = 2 (l+w)

    70 = 2 (2a+2 + a)

    70 = 2 (3a+2)

    70 = 6a+4

    70 - 4 = 6a

    66 = 6a, a = 66/6 = 11

    so a=11 inches, a = width

    therefore width is = 11 inches

    length is = 11*2+2 = 24 inches
