    Emily's speed is the greatest, therefor she is the fastest at a speed of 1.78 m/s

    Step-by-step explanation:

    To determine who swam the fastest we need to calculate the speed for each swimmer;

    Speed=Distance/time

    Deborah covered a distance of 50 meters in 40.8 seconds,

    Deborah's speed = (Deborah's distance/Time) = (50/40.8) = 1.23 meters per second

    Robert covered a distance of 100 meters in 60.2 seconds,

    Robert's speed = (Robert's distance/Time) = (100/60.2) = 1.66 meters per second

    Emily covered a distance of 200 meters in 112.4 seconds,

    Emily's speed = (Emily's distance/Time) = (200/112.4) = 1.78 meters per second

    From the speeds for each we can conclude that;

    Emily's speed (1.78 m/s) >Robert's speed (1.66 m/s) >Deborah's speed (1.23 m/s)

    Emily's speed is the greatest, therefor she is the fastest at a speed of 1.78 m/s
