The length of a rectangle is 7 meters longer

than its width. What is the width of this

rectangle if its perimeter is equal to 130

meters?

    P = 2 (l+w)

    Let x be the width.

    130 = 2 (x + (x+7))

    130 = 2x + 2x + 14

    116 = 4x

    x = 29

    The width of the rectangle is 29.
