    (-8x^6) / (4x^3) can be broken down as (-8/4) * (x^6/x^-3)

    you should know that - 8/4 is - 2

the second part is dividing variables at different powers which is kinda like subtracting powers

    think of it as x ^ (6 - (-3))

    you get x^9

    -2 * x ^9

    = - 2x^9
