    R = rate of rise of Sea level at The Battery, New York = 2.84 x 10⁻³ m/year

    t = time period for which the sea level rise = 20 years

    H = total rise in the level of Sea level at The Battery, New York in 20 years

    Rise in the sea level can be given as

    H = R t

    inserting the above values in the equation

    H = (2.84 x 10⁻³ m/year) (20 years)

    H = 5.68 x 10⁻² m
