Simplifying-1 (2x + 4) = 18
Reorder the terms:-1 (4 + 2x) = 18 (4 * - 1 + 2x * - 1) = 18 (-4 + - 2x) = 18
Solving-4 + - 2x = 18
Solving for variable 'x'.
Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right.
Add '4' to each side of the equation.-4 + 4 + - 2x = 18 + 4
Combine like terms: - 4 + 4 = 00 + - 2x = 18 + 4-2x = 18 + 4
Combine like terms: 18 + 4 = 22-2x = 22
Divide each side by '-2'. x = - 11
Simplifyingx = - 11
