Katie is thinking of starting a baby-sitting service and wants to figure out what percent of the population have young children. She goes to a community meeting about unsafe conditions on a playground and asks every fifth person attending the meeting if they have young children. Part A Explain why this sample is unlikely to be representative of the population.

    The reason this sample is unlikely to be representative of the population is because she is only interviewing a community meeting, whereas the population of the world is 8 billion. It is not a good example of what the population is, because the meeting probably only has, tops, 100 people. The ratio here is 8 billion/100, which is why this sample is unlikely to be representative of the population.
