Suppose that hot dogs come in packs of 9 and buns come in packs of 12. kareem bought the same number of hot dogs as buns. it was the least number of each for which this was possible.

    Take lcm (9,12)

    note, 9=3^2 and 12=2^2*3

    therefore lcm=3^2*2^2=36

    Hot dogs - 4 packs (9 times 4 = 36)

    Buns - 3 packs (12 times 3 = 36)
