    1) colored monitors=c B/W monitors=5c

    5c=40

    c=40/5

    c=8 colored monitors

    2) $4.95 (30) = 16.95 (x)

    $148.50=16.95x

    8.7610=x

    since the store cannot sell 0.7610 of a book, round up to the next whole number

    9 hardcover books must be sold

    3) 1/5 mi/10 sec = 0.02 mi/sec

    0.02mi x 3600 sec = (0.02) (3600) mi = 72mi/hr

    1 sec 1 hr 1 hr

    **in the conversion, the seconds unit cancels out
