Recall that two angles are complementary if the sum of their measures is 90 degrees°. Find the measures of two complementary angles if one angle is 18 degrees° more than threethree times the other angle.

    x + 3x + 18 = 90

    4x + 18 = 90 (subtract 18 from both sides)

    4x = 72 (divide both sides by 4)

    x = 18

    the 2 angles are 18° and (3 * 18) + 18 = 72°
