The Jackson family is putting down flooring in part of their basement. The floor in this part of the basement measures 10 feet wide by 20 feet long. The flooring that they want to use costs $2 per square foot. How much will the flooring cost in all? Explain

    10x20x2=$400

    All you have to do is find the area of the floor (10x20=200), then you just multiple the area by the cost (200x$2=$400), and that is how you find the cost.
