For letter a.) If I wanted to convert the width to kilometers, I would use the conversion factor:

156 cm to m, them m to km

    156cm * (1m/100cm) = 1.56m

    1.56m * (1km/1000m) = 0.00156 km

For the letter b.) The width in kilometer is 0.00156 km.
