7x+3y=30 ... equation 2
from equation 1
7x+11y=-2 ... equation 1
7x = 2 - 11y
divide both sides by the coefficient of x which is 7
7x/7 = 2 - 11y / 7
x = (2 - 11y) / 7 ... equation 3
put equation 3 into equation 2
7x+3y=30 ... equation 2
7[ (2 - 11y) / 7 ] + 3y = 30
2 - 11y + 3y = 30
2 - 8y = 30
-8y = 30-2
-8y = 28
divide both side by - 8
-8y/-8 = 28/-8
y = 3.5
put the value of y in equation 3
