Samuel has read 3/6of his assignment Judy has read 4/8 of her assignment there assignments for the same size who read more? Or did they both finish at the same time

    They both read the same because if you cross multiply 6 times 4 equals 24 and 8 times 3 equals 24

    They both finished at the same time. These two fractions are equivalent (equal).

    You can check to see if two fractions are equivalent by taking the numerator of the first number (3) and timesing it by the denominator of the second number (8). Then by taking the denominator of the first number (6) and timesing it by the numerator of the second number (4).

    For example 3/6 = 4/8

    Take 3 x 8 = 24

    And 6 x 4 = 24

    Since the answers are both the same so 3/6 and 4/8 are equal.
