The perimeter is the distance around the object so you add 4+10+4+10 to get

28 inches as the perimeter of the rectangle

The perimeter of a shape is all of the sides added up.

On a rectangle there are 2 short sides (width) and two longs sides (length)

    The width is 4

    The length is 10

    10+10=20

    4+4=8

    20+8=28

The perimeter of the rectangle is 28inches
