This is easy. First we add up 4+7 making 11. Then we get a common denominator. In this case it is 12. We times the first fraction by 4 and the second one by 3 making 4/12 + 6/12.

Now we add 4+6 making 10/12.

The final answer is 7 10/12

    Find a common denominator

    1/3 and 2/4 can be 4/12 and 6/12

    4 + 7 = 11

    4/12 + 6/12 = 10/12

    Simplify

    10/12 = 5/6

    Your answer is 11 5/6
