A florist sells roses for 1.50 each and carnations for 0.85 suppose you purchase a bouquet of 1 dozen flowers consisting of roses and carnations. Suppose your are willing to spend 14.75. write an equation that can be used to determine the number of roses that can be included in a bouquet of 1 dozen flowers consisting of roses and carnations

    0
    1.50 x 7 = 10.5

    0.85 x 5 = 4.25

    10.5 + 4.25 = 14.75

    So you can only have 7 roses. I found this out using trial and error and then adding on the correct number of carnations to make it a dozen and to make sure it equaled 14.75.
