    X^2-8x=20

    take 1/2 of - 8 and square it ((-4) ^2=16

    add it to both sides

    x^2-8x+16=16+20

    x^2-8x+16=36

    factor perfect square

    (x-4) ^2=36

    squre root both side

    remember to take positive and negative roots

    x-4=+/-6

    add 4 to both sides

    x=4+/-6

    x=10 or - 2

    D is answer
