Let the original length of the square be x cm.

    (x+5) X (x-2) = 60

    Or, x^2-2x+5x-10-60 = 0

    Or, x^2+3x-70=0

    Or, x^2+10x-7x-70=0

    Or, x (x+10) - 7 (x+10) = 0

    Or, (x-7) (x+10) = 0

Therefore, x=7 or x=-10 (rejected as the length cannot be negative)

Ans: Area of the square=l^2=7^2=49 square meters.
