    if LHS = RHS then it is a solution

    e. g put (-2,-10) into the equation

    -10=2 (-2) - 6

    -10=-10

    hence is a solution.

    or put x value into the equation such as

    (-2,-10)

    y=2 (-2) - 6

    the ans should be y=-10. As u can see is equal to the solution given. Hence is a solution.
