    The first thing we must do for this case is write both linear equations.

    We have then:

    For plan A:

    y = 0.04 (x-500) + 40

    For plan B:

    y = 0.02 (x-800) + 60

    Solving the equations we have:

    x = 1200 minutes

    y = 68 $

    Answer:

    both options cost the same amount in:

    x = 1200 minutes

    The cost is:

    y = 68 $
