Dogs outnumber cats in an area by a ratio of 9 to 8. There are 180 dogs in the area. How many cats are there?

    The answer is 160 because they are proportions if you multiply 9 by 20 it will give you 180 so if you multiply 8 by 20 it will give you 160.
