You have to distribute the 4 and the - 1x to get - 4x then you also have to distribute the 4 and 5 which is 20 then you rewrite it to
-4x+20=68 then you'll have to subtract 20 from both sides like this - 4x+20=68
-20 - 20
Then you get - 4x=68, and you divide 68 by - 4 and that gives you x
