I think the correct answer would be false. A correlation between variables does not necessarily mean that one variable causes change in another variable. Correlation is a measure used to describe the direction and the size of relationship of at least two variables. A correlation can have a value of zero which means that there is no relationship between the variables being measured. The correlation cannot be used to say the cause and effect of variables. We can conclude that the variables has a relation however we cannot say that the change in one variable is the cause of the change of the other variable.
