Curtis builds a doghouse with base shaped like a cube and a roof shaped like a pyramid. the cube has an edge length of 3 1/2 feet. the height of the pyramid is 5 feet. find the volume of the doghouse rounded to the nearest tenth.

    volume of cube = e³

    where e is the length of the side

    volume of pyramid = e²h / 3

    Substituting the known values to the equation,

    volume of cube = (3.5 ft) ³ = 42.875 ft³

    volume of pyramid = (3.5 ft) ² (5 ft) / 3 = 20.42 ft³

    Adding up these volumes will give us an answer of 63.29 ft³.
