3x - 4y = 1 ... equation 2

Now putting y = 1 + 2x in equation 2

3x - 4 (1 + 2x) = 1

3x - 4 - 8x = 1

Therefore x = - 1

Now putting x = - 1 in equation 1

y = 1 + 2 * (-1)

= 1 - 2

= - 1
