A scuba diver will descend to a death of 88.5 feet below the surface of the water. The diver pauses twice at equal distances through the dive to observe his surroundings. What is the diver's position in relation to the surface of the water each time she stops?

    If the two pauses are at equal distances, that means all the distances traveled between the pauses are the same. She starts at the surface and goes a third of the way down. This is the first pause. Then she goes another third of the way and pauses at the two-thirds mark. Then she reaches 88.5 feet.

    So pause 1 is at 88.5/3 = 29.5 feet below the surface

    And pause two is at 88.5/3*2 = 59 feet below the surface.
