The mean for the combined set is 9.

    Step-by-step explanation:

The mean is the sum of all scores divided by the number of scores.

First sample: Four scores, mean of 6. So they combine to 4*6 = 24.

Second sample: Four scores, mean of 12. So they combine to 4*12 = 48.

    Combined set:

    Eight scores.

    Their sum is 24+48 = 72.

    72/8 = 9

The mean for the combined set is 9.
