How do you find the length of the short leg on a 30°-60°-90° triangle when all you have is the long leg?

    The ratios of the sides

    hypotnuse=2x

    x=short leg (oposite 30)

    x√3=long leg (oposite 60)

    long leg=x√3

    to find x, divide by √3

    longleg/√3=short leg=x

    rationalize denomenator, times √3/√3

    (longleg√3) / 3=short leg

    the legnth of the short leg is

    (longleg√3) / 3
