Solve for x over the real numbers:

    log (9, x - 3) + log (9, x - 3) = 1

    log (9, x - 3) + log (9, x - 3) = (2 log (x - 3)) / (log (9)):

    (2 log (x - 3)) / (log (9)) = 1

Divide both sides by 2 / (log (9)):

    log (x - 3) = (log (9)) / 2

    (log (9)) / 2 = log (sqrt (9)) = log (3):

    log (x - 3) = log (3)

Cancel logarithms by taking exp of both sides:

    x - 3 = 3

    Add 3 to both sides:

    Answer: x = 6
