Is 6x-8 equal to 2 (3x-5) ? Also, btw the x is a variable ... not the multiplication sign.

    No because 2 (3x-5) is equal to 6x-10 not 6x-8

    No, it is not. Using the distributive property, multiply 2 to 3x and - 5 to get 6x-10. 6x-8 does not equal 6x-10, they have the same coefficient by not the same constant.
