    2 (4x - 3) - 8 = 4 + 2x

    Mutiply the bracket by 2

    (2) (4x) (2) (-3) - 8 = 4+2x

    8x-6-8 = 4+2x

    8x-14=4+2x

    Move + 2x to the other side

    Sign changes from + 2x to - 2x.

    8x-2x-14 = 4+2x-2x

    8x-2x-14 = 4

    Move - 14 to the other side

    Sign changes from - 14 to + 14.

    8x-2x-14+14 = 4+14

    8x-2x = 18

    6x = 18

    Divide both sides by 6

    6x/6 = 18/6

    Cross out 6 and 6, divide by 6 and then becomes x

    x = 3

    x = 3

    Step-by-step explanation:

    2 (4x - 3) - 8 = 4 + 2x

    The goal is to get all the x's on one side of the equation, and everything else on the other.

    Using distributive property, pull (4x - 3) out of it's brackets.

    8x - 6 - 8 = 4 + 2x

    Moving the 2x from the right side to the left side ...

    8x - 2x - 6 - 8 = 4

    Moving the whole numbers from the left side to the right side ...

    8x - 2x = 4 + 6 + 8

    Adding like terms ...

    6x = 18

    Divide both sides of the equation by 'x' which is 6,

    6x/6 = 18/6

    Therefore ...

    x = 3
