M is a 2x2 singular matrix with tr M = 26. What is the value of the smaller eigenvalue of M? It is not necessary to know Mexactly.

    As we have given that trace of the matrix is 26

    So a+b=26 (property of eigen value)

    As the matrix is a singular matrix so the determinant of the matrix will be zero

    So ab = 0 (property of the eigen values)

    For ab = 0 any one of the eigen value must be 0

    If one eigen value will be zero then other will be 26

    So the smaller eigen value will be zero
